The Society The Philosophical Society has continued to go from strength to strength in recent years enjoying incredible success.  In recent times the Society has hosted the 29th World Universities Debating Championships, been ranked the 4th in the World in debating, in addition to continuing to build on its foundational strength its house meetings!  More information about the current activities of the Society, including live broadcasts and recordings of House Meetings can be found on the main Society website:  www.uccphilosoph.com

In this spirit the Society in recent years commenced an analysis and archiving of all Society material, in addition to endeavouring to trace Alumni of the Society.  A huge amount of work has been done, but we would be delighted to hear from you, and hear your stories about the Society. Where they are now?

Coming soon will be profiles of Alumni of the Society showing where they are now, indeed many former members of the Society have gone on and risen to the very top of their field in Politics, Business, and Law to mention just a few.

Welcome to the temporary website of the UCC Philosophical Society dedicated solely to Alumni!

Over the coming days, weeks and months we will be adding considerably more material to this site to enable Alumni of the Society to relive there times in UCC, to find out about the current activities of the Society, to find out about famous Alumni and for details of our upcoming Alumni events.

Keep an eye out for our new permanent website which will be unveiled in the coming weeks and also for the many ways that you can get involved in the New Year!  Make it one of your New Years resolutions to reconnect with the Philosoph!

In recent years the Society has engaged in an extensive process of collecting information about the Society and its members stretching right back to the conception of the Society.  IF anyone has any information that they feel would be relevant please get in touch, we will be delighted to hear from you.  In addition an online version of our archives is available by clicking on Archives at the top of this page.

The foundational stone of the Society right up to the current day continues to be its weekly meetings which are now hosted on Mondays at 7:30pm in the Kane Building.  In addition to providing interesting and challenge perspectives on the issues of the day, they are also often hotbeds of controversy as the Society vigorously defends the principle of free speech for everyone!

In addition to competitive debating in which the Society is hugely active and successful, the Society also now engages in a vast range of activities from social events, to training for new debates, to running the annual Cork IV, to running the Annual Munster Schools Debating Competition, certainly there is never a dull moment!
