Welcome to the brand new website of the Cork IV. With the Philosophical Society finally reaching the age of 160 years, this year’s IV is going to be part of one big celebration and is sure to be one of our best yet. This year's Cork IV is to be held from Friday the 4th to Saturday the 5th of December. If you thought Cork Worlds was good...you haven’t seen anything until Cork IV 2009!

The Cork IV is the largest Irish IV and is also the last Irish IV before the World Universities' Debating Championships. It has become widely regarded in its value as a preparation tournament. It has become very popular in recent years and in 2007 it hosted 80 teams.

The Cork Invitational is a one day event that will precede the IV and will be held on Thursday the 3rd of December.

If you have any questions about the IV, do not hesitate to contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

We look forward to welcoming you for a fantastic IV in December!

Úna Clancy,

IV Convenor,

160th Session, UCC Philosophical Society.
