The Society The Philosophical Society has continued to go from strength to strength in recent years enjoying incredible success.  In recent times the Society has hosted the 29th World Universities Debating Championships, been ranked the 4th in the World in debating, in addition to continuing to build on its foundational strength its house meetings!  More information about the current activities of the Society, including live broadcasts and recordings of House Meetings can be found on the main Society website.

Alumni At the 2008 World Universities Debating Championships hosted by Assumption University Thailand there was a unique moment in the societies history, when five former auditors came together.  Through establishing this Alumni network, the society such meetings from once off occurrences to regular annual events.

Reunions As the Alumni Network grows and develops, the society hopes to run a variety of events for its former members. These include social events, PMTs, feature debates and in the new year an exhibition in the Boole Library here in the University which we hope you will be able to attend. Competitive Success In recent years the society has enjoyed immense success, being formerly ranked as high as 4th in the world. From winning world championships in 1986, to reaching the European final in 2007, there is little that the society has not achieved. To enable this success the society runs a regular training program for its members, we would be delighted if you would be interested in getting involved with this to help us train the current crop of debaters to be the world champions of tomorrow.

Boole Library Exhibition
A showcase of the Philosophical Society since 1949
The society is celebrating its 160th year and to celebrate we are hosting an exhibition in the Boole Library in the new year. On display will be memorabilia that have been treasured down through the years. We look forward to seeing you at the launch and dont forget to sign our book when your there.
