Barry Scannell

Barry Scannell BCL LLM BL is a former Auditor of the UCC Law Society and is now a Barrister in Dublin.
A native of Listowel, Co. Kerry, and an alumnus of Rockwell College, Barry now lives in Dublin.
Barry initiated his involvement with UCC society life as a first year rep for the UCC Law Society in 2002.
In 2003, Barry was elected Social Secretary for the UCC Law Society and the UCC Societies' Guild.
In 2004, he was elected as Auditor of the UCC Law Society, and was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Society at the end of his term of office for his contribution to LawSoc over the years.
In 2005, Barry was once again elected onto the UCC Societies' Guild as Social Secretary, organising what is widely considered the "Best Clubs and Socs Ball Ever". (It was). At the end of his tenure on the UCC Societies' Guild, Barry was awarded a Student Leadership Award by the college authorities for his work with societies.
In the same year, Barry was nominated in the Philosoph Oscars and won the award for Best Floor Contributor.
Barry played Rugby for the UCC J2's. He also played in the first four Philosoph Lawsoc Grudge Matchs. His winning penalty saw LawSoc win the inaugural title.
Barry made a mark on Society life in UCC. His wit, charm, and penchant for blondes is sadly missed.
Barry gradutated from UCC with a BCL in 2005 and an LLM in 2006. He then went on to train to be a barrister in The Honorable Society of King's Inns.
Barry was called to the Bar of Ireland in 2007 and is now a practicing Barrister.
