Kieran Healy

Kieran Healy won the Individual Speaker prize of the Irish Times Final held at the University of Limerick in 1993. His partner in the final was Kieran Holland. He won the Society's Gold Medal competition for the 141st session, in his first year at UCC. He broke to the octo-finals of the World Universities' Debating Championships at Melbourne in 1994 (partner: Michael Muldoon).

Kieran was individual winner of the 140th Session Munster Schools, and the All-Ireland Schools' Debating Competition later the same year. In both cases, his subsequent partner Holland won the Team prize, speaking with Dan Healy.

He is currently Associate Professor of Sociology at Duke University. He graduated with a double first in sociology and geography from UCC and went on to complete an MA in sociology. He received his PhD from Princeton University.
