Tiernan Fitzgibbon

Tiernan Fitzgibbon is a native of Tipperary and a past pupil of Rockwell College where he won both the Fifth and Sixth Year Debating Gold Medals and reached the Final of the Munster Schools' Debating Competition in 2004. He studied law at UCC (2005-2008) and went on to a Masters in Law (2008-2009) at Kings College London. He was voted Fresher of the Year of the 156th Session. He served as the Convenor of the Cork Invitational of the 157th Session and also as the IV Convenor of the 158th Session. He is an Honorary Life Member of the Society and was awarded a Bene Merenti in 2008 for his work with both the Philosoph and Law Societies. During the 157th Session he represented UCC at the World Universities' Debating Championships in Vancouver, 2007 where he broke 13th to Octo-Finals. In 2008 he reached the Semi Finals of the European Universities' Debating Championships in Tallinn. In 2008 he was selected for the ESU Speech and Debate Squad and was sent to Estonia and Finland to promote debating amongst High School and University students.
